Order & Chaos

Jim Ganley

Fact and belief have been sources of grief
But we cling to the one to obtain some relief
While our faith tells us the way things should be
When the facts contradict what we'd like them to be

Belief and the truth are so often like brothers
Were embracing the one while rejecting the other
In hopes of solutions to all of life's problems
When the facts tend to lead us off into the doldrums

As children we believed in Santa Claus and fairies
Believing in chaos and random events today is too scary
Though God goes along no matter what we may think, do, or say
Religions today are shunned and in profound disarray

Facts are ignored when revealing shortcomings
Belief fills the void and keeps the world humming
Along a pathway to dreams for a state where we hope
For a life filled with purpose and new ways to cope
