Original Poetry by Patricia Barrett
Patrica Barrett is an English teacher and Department chair at Sacramento's Foothill High School. She is a published poet with Library of Congress and has had numerous newspaper contributions to the Sacramento Bee and Placer Herald.
Formerly of Manchester, New Hampshire, Patricia was an adjunct professor of English at Hesser College; more recently, she taught at Franklin Pierce College where she also coordinated the college's Secondary Education Teaching Certification Program.
She now resides in Foresthill, an old northern California lumbering and mining town. Enjoying her commute to Sacramento, she teaches English 12 and Advanced Placement English 12. Her reprieve of her forest town, settled along the American River Canyon in the Sierras, is the inspiration for writing and reflection.
Launching a poetic genre which she calls MAG Poetry, (Mothers Against Gangs), Patricia uses her insight and experiences to enlighten readers on the bittersweet perspective of those whose lives are touched by gang activity.
